Recipe: sweet potato and chorizo soup


This is my current go-to soup, taken from the The Naked Paleo – Food Stripped Bare book, for a few of reasons; it’s easy to make, has a nice kick to it and there is enough for lunch or dinner for a couple of days.


2 cloves of garlic (diced)

1 onion (diced)

3 medium sweet potatoes (peeled and diced)

approx 200g chorizo (sliced)

1 tsp of oil

1 litre of chicken stock

pinch of salt


Heat the oil (I used olive oil because it’s what I had in the house) in a large pot and add the onions, garlic and salt. Fry until soft.

Add the sliced chorizo and continue frying until the onions have taken on the colour of the chorizo.

Add the sweet potatoes.

Cover with chicken stock (you could use vegetable stock) and simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the potatoes are cooked.

Blend the soup (I used a stick blender), adjust the seasoning to taste and serve.
