LUSH-Rosy-Cheeks-Review

What it promises

Aimed at skin that is in need of some TLC the LUSH Rosy Cheeks face mask claims to calm skin and restore balance were necessary.

Ingredients wise you’re looking at; Glycerine, Kaolin, Calamine Powder, Fresh Rose Petal Infusion, Water (Aqua), Rose Clay, Perfume, Rose Oil, Benzyl Alcohol*, Lilial*, Citral*, Citronellol*, Farnesol*, and Geraniol. *Occurs naturally in essential oils.

The key ingredients are; Kaolin which is cleansing and absorbent, Calamine Powder which is calming and Rose Oil which is balancing and restorative.

How to use it

Apply a layer of the mask over your face and leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with tepid water. LUSH claim you can tissue it off, but you’ll be there all night if you use that method. This stuff sets rock hard. Even this water I found it difficult to budge. A facecloth is your friend here.

How often you use it depends on the needs of your skin. I’ve been using it once a week, but twice a week may work better for you.

Does it work?

Rosy Cheeks is neither a moisturising nor a detoxifying mask. It sits somewhere in the between. What it does do is leave skin feeling softer and looking less red.

It doesn’t have any lasting effects, but sometimes all you need is to calm skin down temporarily. If you’ve spent the day in the sun, without reapplying sunscreen, this mask is the one for you. It wouldn’t be my go-to for dealing with rosacea redness; it’s grand but nothing to write home about.

It smells strongly of rose so (a) if that’s not your thing or (b) you’re sensitive to heavily fragranced products then I’d give this a miss. The scent lingers too, so be prepared to still smell it even after you’ve washed it off.

At €9.95 Rosy Cheeks is not cheap. As with all LUSH fresh face masks you can pick it up for free when you return 5 empty black pots. I rarely pay full price for a LUSH face mask.
