SOS Save Our Skin: Melanoma Awareness Month

Today marks the beginning of Melanoma Awareness Month, a global initiative to promote the early detection and prevention of skin cancer. In Ireland, the campaign is being driven by La Roche-Posay, the Melanoma Trust, the Irish Cancer Society, Dr. Patrick Ormond Consultant Dermatologist and with the support of the Department of Health.

The above video has been developed by La Roche-Posay, as part of its SOS Save Our Skin public awareness campaign and highlights the particular risk to Irish men.

Review: Vichy Nutrilogie 1 Intense Cream for Dry Skin

 
Vichy‘s Nutrilogie 1 Intense Cream for Dry Skin is, obviously, an intense cream specifically formulated to look after dry skin. For the last month I’ve been using this moisturiser as a night cream, alongside the La Roche-Posay Rosaliac range for daytime.
 
According to Vichy, ‘dry skin is unable to correctly produce its own lipids. As a result, there is a profound deficiency in lipids’.
 
Nutrilogie 1 contains the patented Sphingo-lipid, which is a ‘lipid precursor of cutaneous lipids, that is to say a pre-digested lipid, which is transformed by dry skin into cutaneous lipids. Therefore, for the first time ever Sphingo-lipid goes beyond a compensatory surface supply and actually promotes the natural production of lipids, a failing function of dry skin’.

Review: Givenchy Play EDT

Givenchy Play EDT was launched in 2008 and is actually a fragrance for men, the female version Play for Her wasn’t released until 2010.
 
I’ve had this sample knocking about for ages, it was in a magazine a good while back, but decided to try it for myself this week as the mix of ingredients appealed to me.
 
Play contains top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, bitter orange and mandarin orange, middle notes of amyris wood, pepper and coffee flower accord with its base notes being vetiver and patchouli.

Review: So Hooked on Carmella EDT

So Hooked on Carmella is part of Benefit’s Cresent Row range of perfumes and is described as a ‘floral vanilla that’s exquisitely feminine’.
 
Hooked on Carmella contains top notes of grapefruit and lemon, middle notes of tiare flower, peony and cyclamen with its base notes being vanilla, amber and sandalwood.

Review: Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Fortifying and Soothing 24hr Hydrating Cream

I picked this up in Boots recently, it wasn’t the Vichy moisturiser I went in there looking for but it caught my eye so I bought it.
 
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rich Fortifying and Soothing 24hr Hydrating Cream (phew, what a mouthful) cost me just under €20 for a 50ml jar (I paid with my points though, so happy days,) and according to Vichy it leaves skin ‘intensely hydrated, skin feels soothed. It feels supple, refreshed and velvety- soft. Sensations of tightness are reduced all day long. The skin feels resilient, supple and radiant.’

Review: Benefit B.Right It’s Potent! Eye Cream

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect eye cream for what seems like an eternity. I honestly don’t know why I’ve been having so much trouble, it’s not as if I’m making undue demands on eye cream. I mean I just want something that will take  care of my dark circles as well as keep the eye area hydrated. Not too much to ask for, is it?


With this mission in mind my interests where peaked when I first heard about Benefit’s It’s Potent! Eye Cream back in February. The fact that is was described as a ‘brightening eye cream to fade dark circles’, could only be a good thing as far as I was concerned.
