Welcome to Cornflakegirl’s Musings, pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Cornflakegirl’s Musings as been through a few changes since I started blogging in 2011, but it is best described as a blog about books, feminism and life.
About the blogger
My name is Paula Dennan, I’m from Dublin but moved to Kerry in 2013. If you’re new here I think these words will do, by way of an introduction; books, feminism, LGBTQ+ rights and experiences, chronic illness, politics and current affairs. I also like to talk about perfume, skincare and the search for the perfect red lipstick.
I was once a regular runner, until my health got in the way. I hope to get back to it someday. I can usually be found with a book in my hand or sharing links on Twitter to articles, blog posts and stuff from the internet that have caught my attention.
My interest in feminism and LGBTQ+ rights and experiences has made me an activist. In 2015 I was involved with Yes Equality Kerry and canvassed for the marriage referendum. An experience I wrote about here – Marriage equality: the LGBTQ* community, canvassing and voting yes
I am also passionate about making sure LGBTQ+ people living in rural areas have the spaces and supports they need. This is something I mentioned here – Being bi+ in rural Ireland
I am a founding member and the current Convener of Kerry for Choice; a pro-choice group advocating for the repeal of the Eighth Amendment to the Irish Constitution and for free, safe, legal and accessible abortion in Ireland. We are part of the Abortion Rights Campaign and members of the Coalition to Repeal the Eighth. I’ve written about some of the ways you can get involved in the repeal the Eighth campaign here – #RepealThe8th – what you can do to help
